Some tricks and tips about git

I’ve kept this file on my laptop for a long time. In it, I’ve been accumulating personal notes various tricks about git and github.

Then, at some point, I’ve pushed it into one of my github repositories, especially because people around me keeps having the same issues and asking me for help. Glad to give it with this post.

The doc covers:

  • My git workflow, how I align things locally/remotely or between branches
  • Tricks about branches and tags, including how to align/merge two branches, how to ‘close’ a branch (a feature I used to have on SVN)
  • Tricks and tips about synchronising the local clone and the remote one
